Oh the clouds call me

Tempt me to not look at you

Shadow you from the bright play, I see

They change your hue

Fade your skin, yet brighter you be

And your brave light cuts through.

Sometimes you fail,

For you are drowning

Yellow, orange, red- slowly you grow pale.

I cry at you, for you I sing

I close my eyes, I cannot see you sink

You hide behind the tree , the branches, the solid building

And like my brush cloaks itself in the pot of ink

The sky too grows black, darkness sliding,

If I could save you, I say -- the dark I'd happily drink.

I search for you, my eyes go hither thither anywhere you might be

At last I find you dying, dying with my heart at the end of the sea.
